Statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya and His Wife

Kinjiro Ninomiya (1787–1856; later known as Sontoku) was a Japanese agriculturalist born in Kayama Village (now Odawara City) at the end of the Edo period. For the very first time, his story has been brought to life on the screen. Directed by Sho Igarashi, Ninomiya Kinjiro is a 113-minute narrative film that was completed in January 2019 thanks to the cooperation of many local people from the places associated with this venerable figure.
Our hope is that the film will be seen by a large number of people. With that in mind, we have installed a statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya and his wife from the film at this spot.
In appreciation for all that the venerable Ninomiya achieved, we believe that now is the time to put his teachings into practice.

니노미야 긴지로 부부상

에도시대 말기, 오다와라의 가야마무라에서 태어난 니노미야 긴지로 (손토쿠)의 생애가 사상 처음으로 그려졌습니다. 2019년 1월, 손토쿠 옹과 관련된 많은 지방자치단체 의 협조를 받아 이가라시 쇼감독의 손에 의해113분의 극영화로 완성되었습니다.（많은 분들이 보셨으면 하는 바람으로 극중 니노미야 긴지로 부부의 동상을 이곳에 설치했습니다.
손토쿠 옹의 업적에 감사하며, 지금이야말로 그 가르침을 실천할 때라고 생각합니다.
